Story By: STEVE PADOS / DIRT TRACK HEROES – PHILLIPSBURG, NJ – One of the highlights of the many being showcased at the Tenth Annual Quaker Steak & Lube Dirt Track Heroes Show will be an evening in which the young racing stars have a chance to shine is the “Stars of Tomorrow” night.
The management staff of the show has reached out to all of the local Quarter Midget clubs in the area for the fans to meet the driving stars they will be rooting for in the future. The past, present and future of auto racing will all join forces together under one roof in Phillipsburg, New Jersey. The successful show kicks off on Sunday, March 5th with the honoring of top local Modified star Tighe Scott and Author/Publisher Lew Boyd (Paved Track/Dirt Track) along with the a legendary panel of driving stars to help honor the tenth anniversary of this great show.
The Phillipsburg Mall, located on Route 22 East in Phillipsburg, NJ, has proven to be a popular setting for this special event and will offer a multitude of race cars, racing memorabilia, collectibles and photos on display throughout the course of the show. The show continues to be FREE of charge to the mall traffic and the 2017 edition of the show continues to be the trend setter of the many shows that are scheduled during the year. With an exciting and diverse schedule of events to whet the appetite of any true race fan, large crowds are expected to fill the wide walkways of the Phillipsburg Mall.
Quaker Steak & Lube, or The Lube(r) to loyalists, the award-winning casual dining concept known for its Best Wings USA and over 25 signature sauces, is fully prepped and geared as the lead sponsor for the 10th Annual Dirt Track Heroes Car Show. Quaker Steak & Lube opened in Phillipsburg, New Jersey in August of 2014 and have extremely pleased with the excellent results and the great feedback they have received since signing on with the popular annual racing oriented show. Harry Purcell owns the facility and will be sponsoring the “Stars of Tomorrow” Tuesday night, March 7th for the young racers from all of the Quarter Midget Clubs in the local area. All historical racing groups including Tri State, Flemington, Reading, Harmony, Dorney Park and Nazareth will have their memorabilia on display and their many scrapbooks open for the fans to take another long look at the glory years of racing and possibly find a picture or two they want to purchase as a keepsake from past glory or racing exploits. Cars on display include big and small block Modifieds, Drag Cars, Sportsman, Micro-Sprints, ARDC Midgets, 305, 358, 360 and 410 Sprints, Wingless Sprints, Late Models, go-karts, quarter midgets and a broad range of vintage and restored race cars. Hamlin, Snydersville, New Egypt, Grandview, Big Diamond, Bridgeport, Accord and OCFS will again be among the many speedways involved with the 2017 show. The week-long event will set aside one evening to salute the “Stars of Tomorrow” with a special night for the budding young racing talents competing with the many quarter midget clubs in the local area.
