Information By: ROB HAZER / KING OF DIRT – FONDA, NY – Several drivers have expressed their desire to chase after the 2017 King of Dirt Sportsman Series crown.
Cody Bleau has been in the top 10 in points two consecutive seasons on the 1-800-GOT-JUNK? King Of Dirt Racing Sportsman Series presented by Dean’s Electrical Services and Dodson Construction. He’s improved each season and looks to do it all over again in 2017.
Bleau will focus his Greg’s Towing 173 team on the KOD/DIRTcar East Region tour this summer leaving his weekly plans up in the air. He’s currently looking for a ride and would make a great pilot for someone to pick up. Here Cody takes a moment to chat with Doug Elkins from Doug’s Dirt Diary about his plans for the upcoming season on the KOD/DIRTcar East Tour.
He finished 6th in points during the 2015 season and backed that up with a 4th place points finish in 2016 on the KOD tour. Cody also earned the Award Of Excellence honors in 2015 for his efforts on and off the track. May 14th at Utica Rome Speedway he will begin his quest to be king.
Mark Mortensen is a feature winner and track champion. In 2015 he began the season following the 1-800-GOT-JUNK? King Of Dirt Racing Sportsman Tour only to suffer a set back ending his season efforts. In 2016 he focused on his weekly efforts at Fonda Speedway and found the issues keeping him from victory lane. In 2017 Mortensen is ready to once again throw down for the crown.
He’ll once again concentrate his efforts weekly at the track of champions, but will join the stars and cars of the KOD/DIRTcar East Region tour presented by Dean’s Electrical Services and Dodson Construction with the goal of becoming King Mark the 1st. For a driver who’s finished in the top 10 over 63% of his career this will be his toughest challenge to date. His quest to be king starts May 14th at Utica Rome Speedway for the KOD/DIRTcar East Region lid lifter.
Scott Duell has multiple wins and championships to his name. Until last season he’d never went on tour full time in an open wheel Sportsman Modified. He earned 7th in points, took the Mr. Crate Track USA title, captured hard charger honors, and is the current most popular driver on the 1-800-GOT-JUNK? King Of Dirt Racing Sportsman Tour.
In 2017 the Albany Saratoga high side hustler will go green for RDR racing with new colors and a new team in hopes of earning the DIRTcar East Region Title presented by Dean’s Electrical Services and Dodson Construction. His quest to be king starts May 14th at Utica Rome Speedway for the KOD Lid Lifter. Do you have what it takes to be king?
