Story By: DEAN REYNOLDS / EMPIRE SUPER SPRINTS – SYRACUSE, NY – It will now be a new Memorial Weekend tradition, the stars and cars from the Lucas Oil Empire Super Sprints will visit the Canandaigua Motorsports Park and since 2003, the Utica-Rome Speedway.
At Canandaigua on Saturday night, a special increased purse will see the sprints go 25 laps for $2,500 to win, $1,500 for second and $1,000 for third. The event will be the first of three visits to the Land of Legends in 2017.
On Sunday another hefty purse of $2,000 to win awaits the winner of the A-Main. Points on both nights will be awarded for the overall Lucas Oil Championship as well as the NAPA Auto Parts US Series. At Utica-Rome the second event for the SUNY Canton Series will be held.
Jason Barney is leading the points coming into the weekend with Coleman Gulick, Paul Kinney and Matt Tanner. Joining these stars for the weekend will be the return of Steve Poirier, Chuck Hebing, Matt Billings, Brandon Kidd, Chad Miller, Jeff Cook, Alex Vigneault, Paulie Colagiovanni, Shawn Donath, Brett Wright, Bryan Howland, Kelly Hebing, Dylan Swiernik, Jonathan and Ethan Preston, Dylan Westbrook, Cory Turner, Robbie Shuttleworth, Erik Karlsen, Derrick Juliano and more.
Can’t make it to the track, Canandaigua will also be shown on ESS PPV thru View XStream. The ESS portion of the show will be televised for just $10.
