Story By: DAN KAPUSCINSKI / TRIPLE CROWN CHAMPIONSHIP SERIES – OSWEGO, NY – The Shea Concrete Triple Crown Championship Series of Supermodified racing presented by ASI Racewear moves to Lancaster Speedway this Saturday for round two of the combination championship.
This Saturday’s trip to western New York marks the first wing event of the series schedule and ISMA’s first trip to Lancaster in some 15 years.
Two-time and defending ISMA champion Dave Shullick Jr. currently leads the Bentley Warren Driver of the Year standings following his non-wing victory at Oswego on May 13, driving the John Nicotra Racing No. 2.
Shullick will pilot the Bodnar Racing No. 95 this weekend at Lancaster, with fellow Driver of the Year contender Otto Sitterly racing as his teammate. Sitterly finished third at Oswego in the TCCS opener on May 13 and currently rides second in the driver’s championship just 10-points behind Shullick.
Dave Danzer sits in the third position in the championship heading to Lancaster with Tim Snyder and Jeff Abold filling the top five spots in the driver portion of the TCCS crown, which will pay $6,000 to the overall winner following the Star Classic in September.
Mike Muldoon, Joe Gosek, Dave Gruel, Joey Payne, Keith Shampine, and Dave McKnight have also scored points after race number one at Oswego with Tim Jedrzejek and Howard Page expected to be in action this weekend.
While Shullick and Sitterly lead the Bentley Warren Driver of the Year standings, Danzer Racing currently sits on top of the Jim Shampine Supermodified of the Year standings with their No. 52 machine.
Danzer finished fourth at Oswego on May 13 with the No. 52, the same Supermodified that he will drive on Saturday at Lancaster with the top wing.
Snyder Racing and driver Tim Snyder are just 3-points behind Danzer in the Supermodified championship with Team Abold Racing, Muldoon Racing, and Gosek Racing filling the top five positions.
The Supermodified of the Year championship will also pay $6,000 to the winner at year end with Danzer, Snyder, and Abold currently in position to score a total of $12,000 as potential champions of both portions of the TCCS.
This Saturday’s TCCS/ISMA event at Lancaster will see pit gates open at 3 p.m. with grandstand gates opening and practice beginning at 4 p.m. The night’s first race will hit the Speedway at 6:30 p.m.
