Story By: TYLER ALTMEYER / BRENT MARKS RACING – KNOXVILLE, IA – Concluding three days of competition at the Jackson Motorplex in Jackson, Minnesota, the “Myerstown Missile” Brent Marks qualified for the 39th Annual AGCO Jackson Nationals finale on Saturday evening, ultimately finishing 20th in the running order after starting 24th.
The World of Outlaws Craftsman Sprint Car Series Rookie of the Year contender bettered nearly half of the 37 entries, earning his way into the Saturday night headliner by finishing fourth during the evening’s Last Chance Showdown. It was Marks’ first-ever appearance at Jackson Motorplex.
“It was a good way to end the weekend, but still not where we need to be,” Brent Marks explained. “It hasn’t been a great month for us results-wise, but we’re still in good spirits and having fun. We learn more and more every time we are on the track. If we keep working hard, things will turn for the better soon. That is exactly our intent.”
Brent Marks will continue his 2017 World of Outlaws Craftsman Sprint Car Series rookie campaign with two nights of competition at the famed Knoxville Raceway in Knoxville, Iowa. The Sprint Car Capital of the World will host The Greatest Show On Dirt on Friday and Saturday, June 9-10, during the Brownells Big Guns Bash; the first of two appearances by the World of Outlaws Craftsman Sprint Car Series in 2017. The second visit, an event celebrating 57 years, will take shape in mid-August in the form of the 5-hour ENERGY Knoxville Nationals.
“We really enjoy racing at Knoxville Raceway,” Brent Marks explained, pilot of the Brent Marks Racing/M&M Painting & Construction/BAPS Auto Paint & Supply/Eagle Hotel/No. 19. “This is a perfect opportunity for us to test and tune before we return for the Nationals in August. It’s the Sprint Car Capital of the World; not much else to say about that place.”
