Story By: SCOTT SMITH / NHRA – GLENDORA, CA – NHRA officials announced today that Mickey Thompson Tires, a leader in high performance tires and wheels, has signed a multiyear agreement to become the series sponsor of the popular Top Fuel Harley motorcycle category.
The powerful machines and their riders have thrilled fans at five events thus far on the 2017 NHRA Mello Yello Drag Racing Series schedule and will compete at three more events this season.
The series will also race at the upcoming NHRA New England Nationals, NHRA Thunder Valley Nationals, and the NHRA Northwest Nationals.
“Fans across the country have been amazed by the speed and skills of the Top Fuel Harley competitors this season,” said Brad Gerber, NHRA vice president and chief development officer. “We are excited and welcome the involvement of Mickey Thompson Tires and their support of what will now be known as the Mickey Thompson Tires NHRA Top Fuel Harley Drag Racing Series.”
Starting with the 2018 season, points will be earned at each of the eight events towards a series championship. Bonuses will be awarded to the top three finishers for the Mickey Thompson Tires NHRA Top Fuel Harley Drag Racing Series. Riders will be competing for a share of $97,000 in total awards between year-end prize money and the eight races next year.
