Column By: JUSTIN SNYDER / RPW – MECHANICSBURG, PA – Beginning this Saturday, June 24, a pair of familiar names will be hooking up to debut a new 410- winged sprint car at the Port Royal Speedway.
2006 Port Royal Speedway track champion Mike Erdley will run a #41 owned by former driver Todd Hester. Early plans have the duo running 10-12 races and focusing on mostly Port Royal, Selinsgrove and potentially any time trial shows at Williams Grove Speedway.
The black unsponsored car will sport a modified J &J Auto Racing chassis and they will utilize Rider Engines.
Erdley, a 20-year veteran, last piloted the Tom and Fran Chiappelli No. 98 in 2016 before splitting after 9 races in late August. He has been patiently waiting for the right opportunity since then.
This deal places two veterans together and is something the longtime friends had talked about since Erdley split from longtime car owner Randy Lisi in 2014.
The team is looking for sponsorship to add to their prospective 2017 schedule.
