Story By: BRETT DEYO / SHORT TRACK SUPER SERIES – DELMAR, DE – The old adage in short-track racing is “you can’t win warm-ups.”
That’s not entirely true next Thursday, June 15 at Delaware International Speedway for the Bob Hilbert Sportswear Short Track Super Series (STSS) Fueled By VP ‘Diamond State 50’ event.
Thanks to a marketing partnership with DTM Motorsports of Millsboro, Del., the fastest big-block/small-block Modified driver from hot laps unable to qualify for the 50-lap STSS Modified main through heats and consolations will receive a fully paid starting position in the field, worth a minimum $400.
This driver will earn the 25th starting position in the ‘Diamond State 50’ main as the final qualified car in front of the provisional starters.
“Thanks to Dan (Fiedler, a custom engine builder also offer dyno service), this will send one more driver home with at least $400 in their pocket,” STSS organizer Brett Deyo said. “That’s always a positive thing for our event and series.”
The ‘Diamond State 50’ is headlined by the STSS Modified event offering $5,000 to win, $1,000 for 10th and $400 to start, the third round of the Velocita-USA South Region. Also on the card: Crate 602 Sportsman ($1,000 to win), Delaware Super Trucks and Delmarva Chargers.
