Story By: ASHLEY MCCUBBIN / ADAMS MOTORSPORTS – ORILLIA, ONT – On Saturday, February 3, the OSCAAR Modified teams gathered together for the series year-end banquet, which saw them recognize the champions – Luke Gignac and ADAMS Motorsports.
With six heat wins, two feature victories, and 10 top-10’s, the sophomore campaign was filled with consistency en route to Gignac being crowned the 2017 OSCAAR Modified Champion.
As part of the banquet, Gignac was brought up to the front and presented with a pair of trophies – one of which his name will be added to and features each champion through the years, while the other he will be able to hold onto forever. He was also able to give a speech to his peers in recognition of his accomplishments.
“I want to thank Allan and Diane for the great opportunity to race for them,” he said. “You have to thank all of your sponsors. I want to thank Dave and the crew as they do a great job so we get to race every weekend. Honestly, I don’t have a lot to say. I want to thank Fox’s Bakery and Top Shops – they’re not only great sponsors, but they show up at the banquet which is pretty cool. I got to thank my wife because she doesn’t just encourage me to come, she wants to come to the track every week. She encourages me to do this, and hopefully we can do it for a lot more years.”
The team has already confirmed they will be back for 2018, hoping to go back-to-back. The journey will kick off with showcasing the No. 99 Modified at the Motorama Custom Car and Motorsports Expo next month.
