Story By: SHAWN MILLER / SIDES MOTORSPORTS – BARTLETT, TN – Jason Sides is heading to one of his most successful tracks this week with the World of Outlaws Craftsman Sprint Car Series.
Sides will compete on Wednesday and Thursday at The Dirt Track at Las Vegas in Las Vegas for the FVP Outlaw Showdown before the weekend concludes on Saturday at Perris Auto Speedway in Perris, Calif., for the SoCal Showdown.
“We’ve been strong in Las Vegas quite a few times,” he said. “It’s a big track where momentum is important. We’ve been close to winning there and have picked up some podium finishes so hopefully we can get back to that level of success this week.”
Sides has recorded seven top-five finishes and nine top 10s in 15 races at the half-mile oval since 2009, including three straight runner-up results in 2012 and 2013. He also secured at least one top-10 finish at the track each season for eight straight years before a weekend of bad luck stopped the streak last season.
Sides will venture to Perris Auto Speedway on Saturday for the first of four straight weeks in California. He has improved his result at the track each of the last five years, including netting a top-10 finish the last three seasons.
“Perris is a big track with tight corners,” he said. “Momentum can be critical there as well. The biggest thing is to get qualified well and stay up front all night. That’s important every night, but at some tracks like Perris it’s key for having a great result.”
Last weekend’s World of Outlaws races in Texas were rained out.
