Story By: DAN KAPUSCINSKI / TEAM TAPOUT RACING – OSWEGO, NY – A Saturday full of wet weather missed the Land of Legends Raceway in Canandaigua, NY, providing Tyler Thompson with one of his best drives of the season behind the wheel of his No. 98T Troyer Chassis, DIRTcar Sportsman.
After being rained out at Oswego Speedway, Fulton Speedway and Frozen Ocean Raceway; Thompson and Team Tapout drove to the Land of Legends and left with another top five finish on the season.
Starting from the 18th position, Thompson methodically worked his way through the field to trail winner Dave Marcuccilli, Matt Guererri, and Troy Sperring in the top four positions.
Thompson beat out a stellar field in the top ten including Ricky Newton, Steve Gray, Eric Giguere, Kevin Ridley, Steve Cheesman and Nick Guererri.
Thompson’s weekend opened the night before at Brewerton Speedway for the season opener at the D-Shaped Dirt Demon with Thompson locking in yet another top ten run, coming home in eighth.
Thompson’s weekend of dirt and asphalt action drew to a close on Sunday with his first laps in a Novelis Supermodified at Oswego Speedway.
Once again showing great poise and natural talent, Thompson patiently learned the 900-horsepower Supermodified and before long was in the 17-second bracket. By day’s end Thompson had turned a best lap of 17.686 seconds at over 127mph putting him fourth on the speed charts.
Thompson will return to Oswego Speedway this Saturday for the Jim Shampine Memorial Twin 50’s. Racing will get underway at 4 p.m.
This coming weekend will also see plenty of dirt action for Thompson as the No. 98T Sportsman will travel to Brewerton on Friday, Utica-Rome on Sunday and Weedsport Speedway on Monday.
