Story By: BOBBY CHALMERS / CP RACING – EAGLE BRIDGE, NY – Chad Pierce and the CP Racing Team just need a break. They have an extremely fast car every week at Lebanon Valley, but lately, luck just isn’t on their side.
Casein point, Saturday at the Valley of Speed, where a car started to make a mistake in front of the H. Sausville Construction #83, causing Pierce to take evasive action. That, in turn, caused him to spin, and he was then clipped in the left rear by Brett Haas.
“We had a good car again this week, but just can’t catch a break,” Pierce said. “It looked like Frank (Harper) got out of the groove and went high. I tried to get the car slowed down but in a split-second decision, I tried to avoid him, and Haas had no where to go.”
The contact from Haas caused severe damage to the rear end of the team’s PMC, and resulted in a disappointing 14th place finish.
“The car is very good and the team is working extremely hard to give me everything I need to win,” he said. “We just need a little bit of luck and I know we can get to victory lane. This team is really gelling right now and we are racing with a purpose.”
Chad currently sits 16th in Small Block Modified points at the speedway, 40 points out of the top 10.
The next event on the CP Racing Team’s schedule will be Saturday night at the “Valley of Speed” when Gendron’s Truck Center presents another great night of action. Gates open at 5pm.
