Story By: MANDEE PAUCH / STRATTON RACING – BENNINGTON, VT – After all of the ups and downs this season, Neil Stratton is finally getting the results he’s been looking for at his Friday night home track.
Friday evening saw the Stratton Racing team back at Albany-Saratoga Speedway in Malta, NY.
Neil started fourth in his heat race and finished fifth.
“The track was a little tough, but we managed,” he said about his fifth-place finish.
Neil rolled off on the inside of the fourth row for the main event.
“The car was really good in the feature,” noted Neil. “We just weren’t good on restarts. They killed us all night. Once we got going and had some green laps, we were really good. We went forward, then went backwards and forward again. If we had a few more laps I think we would have had a top five because the car kept getting better the longer the green laps went.”
Neil was able to overcome a few tough restarts to cap off a strong seventh-place finish, his best finish of the season, and third top-ten at Albany.
“That’s where we should be, in the top ten every week,” he added. “We finally put a full night in. We have to get a little bit better, but we’ll be alright.”
Teammate and father, Hector Stratton, started second in his heat and finished third.
Hector’s third-place finish had him starting on the inside of the third row for the main event. Sadly, the team missed the setup for the feature making Hector’s car extremely loose. Hector held on and finished 19th.
The Stratton Racing team would like to extend a huge thank you to Ramuntos Brick Oven Pizza, Bar & Grill for hosting the Stratton’s first annual corn hole tournament that was held this past Saturday. Despite wet weather they had a phenomenal turnout and a great time.
“They did such an awesome job,” said Hunter Stratton. “They had a bar outside for us and even brought in a band. So many people came out even though it rained. It just shows what a great community we have. We appreciate everyone who came out to support us!”
The Stratton racing team will be back in action this Friday, June 29 at Albany-Saratoga Speedway.
