Story By: RON SZCZERBA / FONDA SPEEDWAY – FONDA, NY – This Saturday, July 7 at the Fonda Speedway, Andy’s Speed Shop will sponsor a racing program to celebrate the Independence Day Holiday! On the racing program will be a 50-lap, $3,500 to win modified feature event along with a $250 to win limited sportsman feature event. Along with that all regular divisions will be in action starting at 7:00 p.m.
But that’s not all race fans! There will also be a spectacular fireworks display sponsored by the Village of Fonda and the Fonda Speedway along with Banner Night where children can design a banner of their favorite driver and show it off in front of the Fonda Speedway crowd!
Some of the race cars from the Fonda Speedway will also be part of the Village of Fonda After the Fourth Celebration which will be held at the Village of Fonda Recreation Park on Saturday starting at 3:00 p.m.
Fonda Speedway management confirmed that NASCAR Camping World Truck Series star Stewart Friesen will be on hand this Saturday at the “Track of Champions”. Can he continue his success at Fonda with his DKM “Cyclone” car and capture his fourth win of the season in the “Firecracker 50” modified event?
Can sportsman division point’s leader Nick Scavia continue his success at Fonda this season and capture his fourth feature win of the season this Saturday?
With $250 on the line for the limited sportsman feature winner can someone else other than Derrick McGrew Jr. or Travis Billington, who have dominated the division so far this season, get to victory lane for the big money?
Defending track champion Kenny Gates has a total of four pro stock feature wins this season while defending street stock champion Johnny Young has a total of three feature wins so can they add to their career win totals at the “Track of Champions”?
With a total of six first time winners so far in 2018 at Fonda there is a very good possibility that it could happen again in any one of the competitive divisions at the “Track of Champions”.
Those questions will all be answered this Saturday at the Fonda Speedway so be sure to be on hand for all of the exciting racing action in all divisions.
A reminder from the Fonda Speedway promotional team Demitraszek Enterprises that all drivers must have their DIRTcar licenses with them when signing in at the back gate on Saturday evening.
Please also remember to visit the Fonda Speedway Museum which is free for all to visit and is opened each and every Saturday before the on track racing action starts. This Saturday the North Country Electrical LLC sponsored #17 of Nick Scavia will be on display from 4:00 p.m. to 6:00 p.m. so stop by and say hi to Nick and see his race car up close and personal. CD Coville and Dave Lape will also be at the museum telling stories from their racing careers so make sure to stop and say his to two Fonda Speedway legends!
