Story By: BRETT DEYO / FONDA SPEEDWAY – FONDA, NY – Over the years, the Fonda Speedway has hosted many marquee events. We look back at the “Thunder Along the Mohawk”, “Rumble” and the inaugural “Jack” events. The Track of Champions reigned supreme, the grandstands were standing room only, and the pits jammed with the who’s who of the dirt track racing world looking to etch their names in the history books.
On Wednesday, July 3, 2019 the Fonda Speedway looks to do it all over again, as the “Firecracker 50” has been born. The Bob Hilbert Sportswear Short Track Super Series powered by Sunoco makes its 1st ever visit to the famed Montgomery County ½ mile in a 50 lap, $10,000 to win modified spectacular!
A familiar face will be back at the Track of Champions helping with the promotion of this event.
“Johnny Lakata will be helping with the promotion of this event after huge success with the 1st ever Jack tribute” said new Fonda Speedway promoter Brett Deyo.
Lakata, who is no stranger to the Fonda Speedway, is ready to take on the new event & help the new promoter bring back another marquee event the fans and drivers both deserve.
