Story By: PAUL HARKENRIDER / PST – Sodus, NY As Sprint Car teams from all over the Northeast prepare for the 2019 season, Patriot Sprint Tour President, Mike Emhof has also been preparing the 2019 championship schedule.
The schedule has 25 locked in dates sprinkled in with a couple tentative dates still to be added. The tour will get back to several traditional facilities covering all of New York, Pennsylvania, and Ontario, Canada. All full point events will pay a minimum of $2,000 to win.
We are also excited to return to Michaels Mercer Raceway, under the operation of Edward Michael. After a two-season hiatus, the tour returns to Eriez Speedway which is now owned by Dave Alexander.
Our return out west was thanks in large part to Scott Bonnell who has been a constant supporter of the Patriot Sprint Tour, including being our four laps of fame dash sponsor.
As has been tradition the last three seasons, the tour kicks off with a challenge event at the Outlaw Speedway with the Empire Super Sprints paying $3,000 to win on Friday, April 19. This is for Patriot points only.
The first full point event will take place at the Land of Legends Raceway in Canandaigua on Saturday, April 27.
Three races in May which include stops at Woodhull and Ransomville and a return to Fonda Speedway, now under the operation of Brett Deyo for the Earl Halaquist Memorial on Saturday May 25.
Two confirmed dates are currently on the schedule in June which is a return to Land of Legends for a second time and a traditional stop at the fast Selinsgrove Speedway for the Joe Whitcomb memorial paying $2,571 to win.
July may as well be called the month of American money on Canadian soil as the tour will spend four consecutive nights in Ontario, Canada starting off with a night at the Brockville Ontario Speedway on Saturday, July 20 and a return to Cornwall Speedway on Sunday July 21. Both those shows will pay $3,500 to win. The next two nights will be spent at the Ohsweken Speedway on July 22 and 23 both paying $5,000 to the winner and a locked in 5th row starting spot to the Canadian Sprint Car Nationals in September.
After the teams recoup and have a few days off, they will turn right around the following Saturday (July 27) and head to Outlaw Speedway for the second annual Outlaw Summer Nationals paying $4,000 to win.
August has lots of tradition with stops at PST staple facilities which include Woodhull, Outlaw, Eriez and Mercer.
September is Month of Money “Act II” as a new tradition at the Land of Legends Raceway begins. The inaugural New York Nationals will take place in Canandaigua beginning Friday, September 6 with triple 20’s all paying $1,000 to win! We come back the next night with a $5,000 to win affair.
The following weekend is the 15th annual Canadian Sprint Car Nationals at the Ohsweken Speedway paying $10,000 to win.
We continue through the month at Outlaw Speedway on Saturday, September 21 for the third annual Outlaw Fall Nationals now paying $5,000 to win.
The season concludes as we are apart of Fonda 200 weekend on Friday, September 27 with a show up point event paying $3,000 to win.
