Column By: ROBERT SYMONDS / RPW – WOODHULL, NY – Last weekend was not the best for the 20 time Woodhull Raceway Modified Track Champion. Billy Van Pelt traveled to the Port Royal Speedway for the Short Track Super Series and ended up not even finishing the heat as his motor blew up.
Though this is a setback, it is nothing new for BVP. The team once again regrouped and was able to drop another motor in his 2019 Bicknell Racing Chassis for Woodhull Raceway’s first of two practice sessions this season. Though this motor was a bit smaller, it was just perfect for Van Pelt.
The practice session was a successful one as the deuce was able to get the car dialed in with only one session. The team has to move quickly and precisely though. Another big race the team plans to compete in is only a few hours away. The Hard Clay Open for the Short Track Super Series begins at noon on Sunday April 7th.
So the team will once again, take the Instant Heat Wood Pellets Bicknell back to the shop for some quick over night work and be on the road by 7am to make the 12pm Drivers Meeting at Middletown. Will a successful practice session be enough for BVP to get his second Short Track Super Series win? Tune into Race Pro Weekly for more stories and results to come.
