Story By: TOM BOGGIE / ALBANY-SARATOGA SPEEDWAY – MALTA, NY – Derek Bornt’s victory celebration Friday night at Albany-Saratoga Speedway ended in disappointment.
Bornt appeared to win the 25-lap sportsman feature, recording what would have been the first win of his career. But on Saturday morning, track promoter Lyle DeVore announced that Bornt’s car has failed to pass the post-race inspection, and Bornt was disqualified.
The disqualification gave the victory, which was worth $1,000 through sponsorship from Greg’s Towing, to second-place finisher Justin Buff.
The revised top five consisted of Buff, Connor Cleveland, Andrew Buff, Nick Lussier and Jeremy Pitts.
