Story By: DAVE BUCHANAN / RANSOMVILLE SPEEDWAY – RANSOMVILLE, NY – This Friday night at Ransomville Speedway the JetPort Lounge & Restaurant, Lazy Lakes Camping Resort, Sunflowers of Sanborn and Rutland Corwin Funeral Home present a full card of racing, including the third annual John Susice Memorial Race for the Street Stocks.
The John Susice Memorial pays tribute to the former Street Stock supporter, mechanic and engine builder that passed away in February 2017. He was also the uncle of former Modified track champion, Ryan Susice. The Susice family has helped to add money to the purse for Friday’s race as well as contingency awards. The third edition of the John Susice Memorial will pay $750 to win, $450 for second and $350 for third with a minimum of $75 to take the green flag.
Current Ki-Po Chevrolet Street Stock points leader, Cory Sawyer, is the defending winner of the event. Canadian Rob Murray won the inaugural edition of the race in 2017. The John Susice Memorial will also be the second round in the Ransomville/Humberstone Can-Am Thunder Stock Challenge Series. Dave Bailey of Hagersville, Ontario won the first race of the series back on May 26 at Humberstone Speedway.
The Krown Undercoating 358 Modifieds, Investor’s Service Sportsman, Gippster’s Collision Mini Stocks and Stevenson’s Hardware Novice Sportsman will also be in action of Friday. Pit gates will open at 5 p.m. with grandstands opening at 6 p.m. Racing starts at 7:15 p.m. Grandstand admission is $15 for adults, $13 for seniors and students (ages 13-17 with valid school ID), $8 for children ages 9-12 and kids 8 and under are free. Pit admission is $27 for member, $32 for non-member.
