Story By: DAN KAPUSCINSKI / JASON SIMMONS RACING – OSWEGO, NY – Pavement racing has been more than kind to Tyler Thompson in the last month, but this weekend the Jason Simmons Racing team will bring their 358-Modified to Fulton Speedway for the prestigious Outlaw 200.
More than 60 Modifieds are expected this weekend, with Thompson aiming to qualify for his first start in the $20,000 to win fall staple.
“We’ll be running the 358 against the Modifieds, but I feel good with the way we ran at Fulton earlier this season,” said Thompson. “Outlaw Weekend is a great weekend for fans and drivers and we are excited to be part of it once again.”
Thompson made five starts at Fulton Speedway in the early part of 2019, before focusing full-time on his Oswego Speedway Supermodified efforts.
On May 11, Thompson charged through a stout 358-Modified field at Fulton to finish in the third position behind Larry Wight and Rob Bellinger.
This weekend’s schedule at Fulton Speedway will see four 15-lap Modified qualifying races on Friday evening. The winners of those races will start 17th-20th in Saturday night’s Outlaw 200.
Racing will go green at 7 p.m. on Friday.
Saturday will see a full complement of heat races, consolations and a last chance showdown for Modified racers, before going green for the 34th annual Outlaw 200.
Racing begins on Saturday at 4:30 p.m.
