Story By: ANDREA LARSON / KYLE LARSON RACING – MOORESVILLE, NC – The Kyle Larson Racing team with driver Carson Macedo is set to close out the World of Outlaws NOS Energy Sprint Car Series season this weekend at their home track.
The Dirt Track at Charlotte Motor Speedway will set the stage for this weekend’s action packed three-night Can-Am World Finals.
Last year Macedo kicked off World Finals by qualifying fifth in the second flight of time trials. He went on to finish second in his heat race and fourth in the second dash before finishing eighth in the feature event, his best result at the 4/10-mile circuit.
Later Saturday evening, Macedo qualified third in flight two of time trials and won his heat race and the dash and finished 13th.
Macedo has two starts at The Dirt Track at Charlotte earlier this season. In the opening night of Patriot Nationals, he qualified 15th and finished fifth in his heat race before scoring a 15th-place result in the feature event.
The following night, Macedo rebounded from qualifying 23rd to finish 13th in the main event. He started on the outside of the front row in the feature event and immediately got the lead. He led the opening 24 laps before cutting a tire. Unfortunately, it was after the halfway mark of the race, so he wasn’t guaranteed any time in the work area resulting in a 27th-place finish.
During his first outing on the World of Outlaws tour, Macedo has scored 46 top-10s, 18 top-five finishes, 13 heat race triumphs and six DIRTVision Fast Pass Dash wins.
In addition, he’s earned four A-Main victories, the first came in his home state at Silver Dollar Speedway in Chico, Calif., followed up by Jackson (Minn) Motorplex, Black Hills Speedway in Rapid City, S.D., and Jacksonville (Ill.) Speedway. He currently sits sixth in the championship point standings.
