Story By: DAVE BUCHANAN / RANSOMVILLE SPEEDWAY – RANSOMVILLE, NY – One of the most memorable events from last season at Ransomville Speedway will return for 2020. The second annual “Super Fan” Joseph Scholtisek Special $2,000-to-win race for the Krown Undercoating 358 Modifieds will take place on Friday, June 26.
Created last year as a “living tribute” to a very devoted race fan, the inaugural edition of this race was one of the most exciting races of the year.
In the years following his retirement from Harrison Radiator, Joseph Scholtisek logged many miles while attending over 100 motorsports events per season. In 2013, after attending 134 races and traveling 18,470 miles, Scholtisek was rewarded for his passion with the Gary Jacobs Super Fan Award from National Speed Sport News. Shortly after this he suffered a series of health issues that greatly reduced his travels.
While he chased races across the country, Scholtisek always loved to come back to his home track at Ransomville. You can find him spectating at the “Little R” on Thursdays and at the “Big R” on Friday nights. He is a weekly supporter of the 50/50, and the concession stand staff even knows his order by heart (two hot dogs and a Pepsi).
“Joe has always been one of our most devoted fans at Ransomville,” said Jenn Martin, Ransomville Speedway General Manager. “No matter what day of the week we are racing, you can find him at the track. He is great to talk to and loves racing.”
Last season, Mat Williamson won a thrilling three-way battle with Erick Rudolph and Mike Bowman to capture the inaugural edition of the Joseph Scholtisek Special.
June 26 will also be Easter Night at Ransomville. There will be an Easter egg hunt for kids plus a special appearance by the Easter Bunny. The Investor’s Service Sportsman, Ki-Po Chevrolet Street Stocks, Sunflowers of Sanborn Mini Stocks and Stevenson’s Hardware Novice Sportsman will all be in action.
