Story By: TYLER ALTMEYER / TONY STEWART RACING – BROWNSBURG, IN – Fargo, North Dakota’s Donny Schatz put together an impressive performance on Tuesday evening at Attica Raceway Park, not only recording his 11th top-five finish of the 2020 season, but also utilizing results to cut down Brad Sweet’s lead in the World of Outlaws Sprint Car Series championship standings to just two markers.
Schatz, driver of the Tony Stewart/Curb-Agajanian Racing/Advance Professional/Carquest Auto Parts/Technet Professional Automotive Service/Ford Performance/Mobil 1/Sage Fruit/Curb Records/Absolute Automation & Security/Hunt Brothers Pizza/Digital Ally/J&J Auto Racing/No. 15 sprint car, finished second on Tuesday night at the home of ‘Ohio’s Finest Racing,’ starting in the exact same position alongside eventual winner, Kyle Larson. Although unable to overtake the top spot, Schatz pressured Larson most of the distance, especially in periods of traffic.
Aiding Schatz’ championship points climb, current leader and defending champion, Brad Sweet, was involved in an incident at the beginning of the 40-lap program.
“There’s only one thing I can control, which is going on with this (TSR) 15 car,” Schatz said of his point status. “I can’t control what goes on with anything else. I’ve been in that position before. Things go for you and they go against you. It’s all part of the game.”
Donny Schatz and Tony Stewart/Curb-Agajanian Racing will continue their quest toward the 2020 World of Outlaws championship with a trio of Central Pennsylvania starts on Thursday through Saturday, July 23-25. Schatz will begin his Pennsylvania invasion on Thursday with a visit to the ‘Fabulous’ Lincoln Speedway, followed by a Summer Nationals doubleheader at the famed-Williams Grove Speedway on Friday and Saturday, July 24-25.
