Story By: NATALIE JACKSON / CJB MOTORSPORTS – CARLISLE, PA – Brent Marks and the CJB team were touring the deep south with a pair of stops in Mississippi and Louisiana. The events were run with the stars and cars of the World of Outlaws NOS Energy Drink Sprint Car Series.
On Friday, March 12th at Magnolia Motor Speedway near Columbus, Miss. Marks timed in 7th, finished 2nd in his heat race and 7th in the dash. The team scored a 15th place finish.
The following night, the team competed at the Rev near Monroe, Louisiana. Marks and the team missed time trials while changing an engine and finished 7th in their heat race. They finished 2nd in the Last Chance Showdown and 17th in the feature.
“We’re not 100% sure yet what happened with the motor on Saturday,” said Marks, pilot of the #5 M&M Painting and Construction, BAPS Paints, Fredericksburg Eagle Hotel, R.E. Pierson Construction Co., Wolf-Run Landscapes, Nyce, Crete & Landis Block and Concrete, C&S Lawn and Landscape, Ecynbro Trucking machine. “It laid down in practice so we felt it was best to just change it. Unfortunately, we missed qualifying and just tried to catch up the rest of the night. Friday we had a good car all night long. We were running 4th and I felt like something was going wrong and faded to 9th until I pulled in the work area. Unfortunately, we didn’t have the finish to show for a good night.”
The tour now rolls into Cotton Bowl Speedway near Paige, Tx. for a weekend doubleheader on Friday, March 19th and Saturday, March 20th.
“It’s been a few years since we’ve raced there so I’m looking forward to it,” said Marks. “Also looking forward to representing M&M and the Murray family in their home area.”
