Story By: JACOB MACDONALD / GLEN RIDGE MOTORSPORTS PARK – FULTONVILLE, NY – Just as Andrew Buff crossed the line to pick up the victory on Sunday night for the 602 Crate Sportsmans, mother nature made her third appearance at The Ridge on Sunday night in as many weeks as rain forced postponement of the pro stocks and limited sportman features to next Sunday night.
Andrew Buff and Tony Faroe led the Red Chair 602 Crate Sportsman feature to green and the 2020 co-track champion went right to work as he pulled put to a multiple car length lead. A lap 8 caution jumbled the field back together and Farone got a great start and took the lead away momentarily from Buff. However, Buff got the lead back after Farone slid up in turns 1 & 2. The field was bunched back up on lap 14 after the other co-track champion in 2020, Travis Green slowed on the backstretch. However, on this restart, Buff took the lead and drove away for win number 1 on the 2021 campaign at Glen Ridge. Farone would have to settle for second while Ricky Quick finished in third, Cody Ochs came home 4th and Justin Buff completed the top 5.
In the Street Stocks, Jason Samrov sat on the pole and drove out to an early lead and led for most of the feature. However, with six to go, Adam Tranka took his car to the outside and made it stick as he cleared Samrov and led the rest of the way unchallenged as he picked up the win. Samrov and Matt Mosher battled to the line for 2nd with Mosher getting the 2 spot at the line. Samrov had to settle for third while Joe Wilson and Kenny Allen rounded out the top five.
For the Northeast Paving & Sealcoating All Star Slingshot feature, it was Brett Putnam and Tavien Blowers leading the field to the green flag. Blowers would use the outside to his advantage and take the early lead. Meanwhile, defending track champion Dan Ballard was on the charge to the front. Ballard would make a run at the lead as he powered his way to the inside of Blowers on lap 9 but Blowers shut the door on Ballard. A yellow with three to go jumbled the field back up but it was all Blowers from there as he took home the win. Putnam came home in second while Dan Ballard, Adam Fusco and Brock Pinkerous rounded out the top 5.
In the Junior Slingshots, Hayden Ackerknecht took the early race lead but Josh Landers snagged the top spot away just past the halfway mark in the 12 lap feature and led the rest of the way for his first career win at the Glen Ridge Motorsports Park. Defending champion Lucas Duncan came home second while Chase Zimmer, Avery Decker and Corky Warner completed the top five.
In the Mini Stocks, it was Josh Kane and Wayne Russell Jr picking up where they left off in 2020 as they took home the wins in the dual and single cams respectively.
The Prostock and Limited Sportsman Features didn’t get to run as Mother Nature forced them to be pushed to next Sunday night as they will run double features.
Next Sunday night at the fastest ¼ mile on dirt, the Slingshot By Tobias Empire tour makes their first stop in 2021 and FantaSStic 4 Street Stock Series as well as all weekly divisions.
