Story By: TIM BALTZ / JESSICA POWER RACING – KINGSTON, ONT – As the 2021 season starts to draw to a close Jessica Power and her crew will take this weekend to get the number 52 dialed in for upcoming events at the Brighton Speedway and Brockville Ontario Speedway to close out the year.
Last week the team headed to the Niagara region to take in two nights of racing at Humberstone and Merrittville Speedways, which were part of the DIRTCar Sportsman West Regional Tour.
Friday night at the Humberstone Speedway Jessica time trialed well and ran strong in the heat race which put her up front to start the feature. At the checkered flag Jessica would end up 11th after a hard-fought battle all night long.
Saturday it was on to the Merrittville Speedway in Thorold Ontario for more DIRTCar Sportsman tour action. The feature was tough and despite a broken right rear shock, Jessica was able to fight her way close to the top 10, with another 11th place effort.
With this weekend off for the team, Jessica and her crew will look to get her machine dialed in as the annual Applefest Shootout takes place at the Brighton Speedway on Friday and Saturday night. Applefest has been pretty good to Jessica and her team with a pair of 3rd place finishes in 2013 and in 2020 have been her best effort and a total of 5 top 10 finishes in 14 career starts
The Brockville Speedway Fall Nationals will end the 2021 season on October 15th and 16th for the JPR Racing team and much like Applefest, The BOS has been pretty kinds to Jessica over the years. Jessica has a best finish of 4th in the Sportsman event back in 2016. She is the only driver to run all 11 races at the Fall Nationals in the Sportsman class, compiling 3 top 5 and 4 top 10 finishes. Jessica finished 5th a year ago and will have a couple of chances at victory lane as the Ogilvie’s Triple Crown Series is set for Friday night. Saturday the DIRTCar Sportsman series will be in town. Both events will be 50 laps in distance
The team is already going through car trying to make it even better and looking for strong performances to close out the 2021 season and looking to score some big wins.
Jessica and her team would like to thank all the sponsors and supporters they have had in 2021 along with the great race fans as well.
