Story By: RYAN DELPH / JONATHAN DAVENPORT MOTORSPORTS – LAS VEGAS, NV – Jonathan Davenport and Double L Motorsports made their long trek to Las Vegas Motor Speedway pay off in a big way, as they captured the win in the ‘Duel in the Desert’ opener at the Las Vegas, Nevada speedplant on Friday night, November 12!
Jonathan knocked down the quickest lap in Group A during the qualifying session before securing a victory in his loaded heat race. JD then paced the stellar field for all forty circuits in the headliner to land his 27th feature victory of the season and the $25,000 payday ahead of a top five that included runner-up Brandon Overton, Tim McCreadie, Bobby Pierce, and Josh Richards!
At LVMS on Saturday evening, November 13, a whopping $50,000 top prize was up for grabs in the ‘Duel in the Desert’ grand finale. Jonathan clicked off the second fastest time in Group B during qualifying prior to capturing another heat race triumph.
After rolling off from the outside of the second row in the 77-lap main event, the Blairsville, Georgia native grabbed the point on the second circuit and led through lap 54.
Unfortunately for the #49 team, smoke appeared from the back of the car and fluid from the engine compartment sprayed onto the front tires, which helped send Davenport over the treacherous cushion on lap 55 and forced him to retire with heavy front end damage.
He was ultimately relegated to a disappointing eighteenth place performance after leading much of the distance.
