Story By: TYLER ALTMEYER / BRIAN BROWN RACING – GRAIN VALLEY, MO – After losing World of Outlaws starts at Magnolia Motor Speedway and The Rev on February 25-26, “Blackjack” Brian Brown and Brian Brown Racing pressed on and continued their 2022 season with a trip to the Lone Star State, joining the World of Outlaws Sprint Car Series for the Texas Two-Step doubleheader at Cotton Bowl Speedway in Paige, Texas, on Friday and Saturday, March 4-5.
Despite a tough outing that forced Brown to settle with 18th and 20th-place scores, respectively, the Grain Valley, Missouri, native is optimistic, already looking ahead to a potential road trip to Central Pennsylvania.
“Despite the overall results, it was a great trip for our team and I’m proud of their hard work and determination. Danny, Tye, and Justin never give up and that’s a key component that makes this team so strong,” Brian Brown explained, driver of the Brian Brown Racing, Casey’s, FVP, Andy’s Frozen Custard, Impact Signs Awnings and Wraps, Rowdy Energy, No. 21 sprint car. “We’re always striving to better our performances. I think we learned some valuable lessons this weekend and we can put them to the test as the year progresses. We’ll have our Casey’s, FVP, Andy’s Frozen Custard car up front in no time.”
Although Brown’s Friday night performance at Cotton Bowl Speedway was statistically greater, finishing 18th after starting one spot better, the five-time Knoxville Raceway track champion did showcase some perseverance on Saturday, ultimately transferring through the evening’s Last Chance Showdown (LCS) to score a spot in the Texas Two-Step finale. Brown was forced to compete in the LCS after finishing seventh during heat race competition. A disappointing qualifying effort, timing in 22nd out of 29, was the overall culprit.
“We were able to bounce back a little bit and that’s motivating to us,” Brown continued. “These Outlaw races are competitive and every lap is important.”
