Story By: TYLER ALTMEYER / DANNY DIETRICH RACING – GETTYSBURG, PA – “Double-D” Danny Dietrich put on a show this past weekend in Pennsylvania Posse Country, ultimately translating a trio of starts into a trio of top-ten finishes, highlighting the two-race turned three-race campaign with a hard-charging performance at Port Royal Speedway on Sunday, March 20.
Dietrich, the defending Labor Day Classic champion at the Juniata County Fairgrounds, rallied big, climbing ahead from 17th to finish fourth, utilizing the bottom groove to power by Pat Cannon and Lucas Wolfe late in the race.
Dietrich, driver of Gary Kauffman’s Weikert’s Livestock, Sandoe’s Fruit Market, Pace Performance, Big Cove Whitetail Trophy Hunts, Drop Of Ink Tattoo, Sweeney Chevrolet Buick GMC, Self Made Racing, No. 48 sprint car, opened his weekend with an eighth-place outcome at Williams Grove Speedway on Friday, March 18, followed by a third-place score at the “Fabulous” Lincoln Speedway on Saturday, March 19. Dietrich’s Lincoln podium was also the result of an impressive charge, rallying seven spots from tenth before crossing under the final checkers in a three-car drag race with Buddy Kofoid and Brent Marks.
Technically, Dietrich was scheduled to compete in only two events in Pennsylvania, but with Port Royal’s Saturday sprint car program moved to Sunday, the two-race weekend translated into three.
“What a weekend for this team. The results and the speed are there, but we just need to get a little better at drawing. I think it’s safe to say we would have a few wins by now if it wasn’t for redraws,” Dietrich said, who now owns six top-ten results in Central Pennsylvania in six starts. “Hats off to this team and all of our partners. The year is young, but we’re hungry to win races.”
