Information By: SOUTHERN ALL STAR DIRT RACING SERIES – GAFFNEY, SC – Chris Madden stole the lead in the closing laps of the Southern All Star Dirt Racing Series March Madness event at Cherokee Speedway Sunday afternoon from leader Chris Ferguson and never looked back.
Madden went on to capture his fourth career victory in the event.
“It feels good to take home another $10,000 payday at “The Place Your Mama Warned You About,” Madden said. “It was awesome to win here at Cherokee Speedway with all of our loyal fans cheering us on.”
Madden was quick to show gratitude for all who helped him with the win.
“Thank you to my crew, family and all of our amazing sponsors and partners for their never ending support,” he said.
Chris Ferguson had the race in the bag, until heartbreak struck in the form of a flat tire.
“We led 47 of 50 laps today before a flat tire unfortunately ended our race,” Ferguson said. “This was the car to beat. As hard of a pill is it to swallow, we know our Team Zero Race Car is extremely fast. We’ll regroup and be back and better than ever.”
Ferguson ended up 12th at the finish.
Mike Marlar came home second with Jonathan Davenport, Daulton Wilson and Carson Ferguson completing the top five.
