Story By: TIM BALTZ / JESSICA POWER RACING – KINGSTON, ONT – The 2022 racing season is just days away for the JPR Racing Team as they get ready for the first race, in what is sure to be a very busy season.
Jessica and her team will make the haul to the Orange County Fair Speedway in Middletown New York for the Sportsman portion of the Hard Clay Open. The speedway is relatively new to Jessica but she will rely on the experience of her team members, who have been there in the past with other drivers, hoping that will give her the advantage she needs to be successful this weekend.
The event is going to be the first of many in 2022 as Jessica plans a full season of racing in both the United States and Canada. With border restrictions lifted and the mandatory return test to Canada no longer in effect, the team will once again return to their Friday night home, the Can Am Speedway, where they were successful in 2019. The team scored two feature wins and was also in the running for the track championship as well. They will try to regain that winning touch this year, as they look to challenge defending track titlist Tyler Corcoran.
After a stellar performance in 2020 and 2021, which saw Jessica win twice and claim her first Ogilvie’s Sportsman Triple Crown Championship, the team plans to return for another full time season at the Brockville Ontario Speedway on Saturday nights in the DIRTcar Sportsman division. The team will also eye their first BOS track championship in the Sportsman division after going toe to toe last season with eventual champion Bobby Herrington.
2022 will also be a busy year for major events as the team will try to hit as many regional events on the DIRTcar Sportsman tour as well. Jessica will run for points in either the Central or North region, while planning events in the east and west regions of the tour, throughout the summer. They hope to be in the running for the series title, when the overall championship takes place in the fall.
After not being able to attend racing’s biggest party the previous two seasons. Jessica will also be back at the Oswego Palace for the 50th Napa Auto Parts Super Dirt Week at Oswego Speedway. Jessica will look to make her 9th career start in the Chevy Performance 75 Sportsman championship, where she has a best finish of 13th, which came in the first ever event at Oswego in 2016.
After running very strong in just a handful of appearances at the World Short Track Championship at the Dirt Track at Charlotte. Jessica and her team will return for another run at one of the most prestigious events of the year, as the event will once again play host to the DIRTcar Sportsman Series, with nothing but a trophy and some good money up for grabs.
The team also will be welcoming back some of their supporters from 2022. Greenshield Pest Control will move to the roll of primary sponsor for the team, Mobil 1 has announced that they will be returning to the JPR Racing family. Qwick Wick Fire Starters joined the team last year and will be back once again to watch Jessica collect trophies and checkered flags all season.
