Story By: JUSTIN SNYDER / PORT ROYAL SPEEDWAY – PORT ROYAL, PA – Port Royal Speedway returns for it’s third weekend of racing on March 26th with another three-division spectacular as part of Checkered Flag Fan Club Night!
It’ll also be $1 Hot Dog Night at the track!
The Weikert’s Livestock 410 Sprint Cars will compete for $4000 to win, while the ULMS Racing Series Late Models will be vying for a $3500 winner’s share. The late models will partake in group time trials in warm ups. After inclement weather cancelled their 2022 debut last weekend, the Selinsgrove Ford Limited Late Models are set to compete as well, with the winner receiving $1200.
Gates will open at 1:00 pm with racing set to kick off at 4:00 pm. This will be the final 4:00 p, start-time of the season, with the track set to move back to a 6:00 next weekend. General Admission is $20, Student Admission is $10, while Pit Admission is $30.
Anthony Macri picked up his 12th career Weikert’s Livestock 410 Sprint Car victory last weekend over Brent Marks and Gerard McIntyre. The win not only moved into a tie for 31st all-time on the all-time win list at the Speedway, but it catapulted him to the lead in the series point standings as well. Macri holds a 20-point advantage over Danny Dietrich, followed by Mike Wagner (-25), Justin Peck (-55) and Brent Marks (-70).
Colton Flinner continued his hot start to the 2022 racing season in the Krill Recycling, LLC Super Late Model division as he picked up his second consecutive victory at the Speedway last weekend. The win was his first career ULMS Racing Series sanctioned triumph and he’ll be looking to pick up another this weekend as the series returns on Saturday as a result of last Saturday’s rainout.
Flinner leads the track point standings by a margin of 65-points over the ageless Gary Stuhler with Mike Lupfer (-105), Kyle Lee (-120) and Trevor Collins (-135) completing the rest of the top five. In regards to the ULMS series point standings, it’s Gregg Satterlee on top by a margin of 5-points over Rick Eckert. Jared Miley (-9), Taylor Emory (-9) and Flinner (-22) round out the top five.
This will be the first of 12 scheduled Selinsgrove Ford Limited Late Model events for the 2022 racing season and it’s Devin Hart entering the season as the defending points champion at the Speedway. Shawn Shoemaker, Andrew Yoder, Todd Snook and Kenny Yoder made up the 2021 top-five and you can expect a large field of cars all vying for a shot of overtaking Hart as the series 2022 champion.
New to this season for the division will be a weekly $100 Hard Charger Award presented by Dedicated Nursing Associates, Inc. for the driver who passes the most cars in the feature event.
