Story By: TYLER ALTMEYER / DANNY DIETRICH RACING – GETTYSBURG, PA – “Double-D” Danny Dietrich put on a show yet again for Lincoln Speedway fans, this time battling with Buddy Kofoid and Freddie Rahmer for high honors in Lincoln Speedway’s $6,900-to-win Weldon Sterner Memorial on Saturday, April 9.
Although forced to settle for third, Dietrich, driver of Gary Kauffman’s Weikert’s Livestock, Sandoe’s Fruit Market, Pace Performance, Big Cove Whitetail Trophy Hunts, Drop Of Ink Tattoo, Sweeney Chevrolet Buick GMC, Self Made Racing, No. 48 sprint car, did not go down without a fight, showing his strength early by taking the lead from third in just two circuits. Traffic came into the picture early allowing Kofoid to track down the current track championship point leader. By lap 11, Kofoid was all over Dietrich for the race lead, eventually sliding the Gettysburg native at the exit of turn four. Dietrich did his best to get back by the black and green No. 71, but Kofoid proved to be too strong.
Freddie Rahmer was able to sneak by Dietrich on lap 21.
“That was fun. There were a lot of good cars in the pit area on Saturday night and we were fortunate enough to be one of them, just not the best. Hats off to Buddy…he ran a great race,” Danny Dietrich said, who kicked-off the Weldon Sterner Memorial with the fast qualifying lap over 42 other entries earning himself a $200 bonus. “None of this would be possible without the fans. A big thanks to everyone who braved the cold to come out and watch us race. We do it for them and we couldn’t do it without them.”
