Column By: ROBERT SYMONDS / RPW – CANISTEO, NY – Neighbors and residents near the Center Of It All in Canisteo NY are hearing engines roaring right alongside the weather turning around for spring. Though this year, the tone of the engine sounds are a bit different as Brett ‘The Jet’ Marlatt trades in his Nitro Chassis Street Stock for a GRT Chassis RUSH Late Model.
For over 10 years, Marlatt has been a force to be reckoned with in Street Stock competition by winning races and earning Championships on the High Banks of the Woodhull Raceway and other surrounding tracks. Now Marlatt is ready for a new class, a new car, and a new season.
“I am excited for this season,” Marlatt said. “Trying something new outside of the Street Stocks and looking forward to racing against the best RUSH Late Model drivers at Woodhull.”
Going into 2022, Marlatt has had experience behind the wheel of a late model in the form of a 360 Late Model. Marlatt wheeled the Chuck McGregor owned 67J 360 Late Model at Woodhull in 2014 for a couple of events in competition; picking up a qualifying heat win in July.
Brett ‘The Jet’ Marlatt plans on racing full time in 2022 at the Woodhull Raceway for the Armstrong RUSH Late Models and will be piloting the RLB Trucking, Les Smith Construction number 99. By racing full time at a RUSH Sanctioned Speedway, Marlatt is in the running for the RUSH Weekly Series Championship on top of the Woodhull Raceway Armstong RUSH Late Model Championship.
