Story By: TYLER ALTMEYER / TONY STEWART RACING – BROWNSBURG, IN – Despite Mother Nature doing her best to ruin the weekend, ultimately causing the cancellation of Friday’s US 36 Raceway appearance due to rain and cold temperatures, the weekend went on for Donny Schatz and Tony Stewat/Curb-Agajanian Racing, visiting Lake Ozark Speedway for the annual Jason Johnson Classic on Saturday, April 9.
Honoring the late Jason Johnson, the annual Jason Johnson Classic was stout in prize money, awarding $15,000 to the winner, as well as stout in numbers, as nearly 40 entries made their presence known in the Show-Me State including a few All Star Circuit of Champions competitors. Schatz would go on to qualify for main event competition and eventually finish 12th in the 30-lap contest, advancing two spots after starting 14th on the grid.
Schatz qualified for the Jason Johnson Classic A-main via a fourth-place run during his respective heat race, kicking things off with the ninth-fastest time during his respective group of qualifiers.
