Story By: LINCOLN SPEEDWAY – ABBOTTSTOWN, PA – The Inaugural Steve Smith Tribute Race presented by Conewago is scheduled for Saturday, June 4 and will feature the 410 sprint cars, ARDC Midgets and USAC East Coast sprint cars.
As previously announced, the 410 sprints are competing for $19,000 in honor of the Black Bandit’s famous #19 sprint car and they will be utilizing the PA Speedweek format.
With over $60,000 to be paid out to the 410 sprints, the Steve Smith Tribute Race is shaping up to be one of, if not, the highest paying non-sanctioned sprint car race in Central Pennsylvania.
In total over $60,000 will be paid out to the 410 sprints thanks to generous sponsors. Each 410 sprint heat winner will take home $660 thanks to Fletcher’s Service Center. The driver that sets quick time will take home extra cash as will the hard charger. Drivers that do not qualify for the 40-lap feature will also go home with additional money. The driver leading on lap 19 will be $1,900 richer at the end of the night.
“We’re excited to honor Steve with an amazing event at Lincoln. Steve’s legacy is so important to Lincoln Speedway and sprint car racing as a sport,” said Jerry Parrish, General Manager at Lincoln Speedway. He continued, “We have some great sponsors for this event and of course we could not have done it without Steve’s family, they have put in a lot of work to make this a marquee event in Central PA.”
“Our family is very thankful for our many contributing supporters who were able to assist us in making this special event come together,” shared Brian Leppo on behalf of JoAnn and the family. “Conewago coming onboard as the Presenting Sponsor was a game changer for the event. Steve enjoyed a successful racing career all across our PA tracks and beyond, but he called Lincoln Speedway his home track. Thank you to Lincoln for hosting the Black Bandit Tribute race. A lot of effort was put in to offer the drivers and teams all the bells and whistles so to speak in honor of our Hall of Fame driver. Steve became a Legend with a tremendous amount of success at Lincoln. We wanted to make this event special with added incentives that all teams could possibly benefit from with this race. With the final purse and additional bonus it’s looking like a fantastic night at the Fabulous Lincoln Speedway for the Black Bandit Tribute race. We are really looking forward to June 4th.”
Ticket prices for Saturday, June 4 are $30 for adult general admission, $15 for students (12-17 with photo ID) and pit passes are available for all ages at $40. Fans can get $5 off their general admission ticket for this race if they bring their rain check from the race the week before.
