Story By: BIG DIAMOND SPEEDWAY – MINERSVILLE, PA – Once again Mother Nature wreaked havoc on Big Diamond Speedway with the postponement of the scheduled Tri-Track Series debut scheduled for last Friday night.
With cars in the pits ready to race, the rains came about a half hour before the start of hot laps. Although the rains stopped quickly, the damage to the track surface was done and despite the efforts of the track crew, the track was just too wet thus forcing the cancellation of the night’s events.
The Tri-Track series race will be made up on Friday night July 1st in place of the previously scheduled twin 20’s.
This Friday night will be the season debut at Big Diamond Speedway for the Capital Renegades URC Sprint Club. The URC Sprint cars have been traveling to speedways throughout the midlantic since 1948 and will be bringing their outstanding brand of racing to the Schuylkill County dirt oval. The club will return for a second appearance on Friday night June 24th.
Last season the URC sprint cars visited Big Diamond on two occasions with Mark Smith and Robbie Stillwagon taking the wins. This season Jason Schultz leads the way with two wins with Mark Smith and Josh Weller each having a single win. Like the rest of the northeast, the URC schedule has been plagued with rainouts having had 3 events cancelled due to the weather. Jason Schultz by virtue of his two wins sits atop the standings so far in 2022. A good field of sprint cars is expected this Friday night all looking for the win. Modified standout Billy Pauch Jr is expected to be in the field aboard the Hogue No. 39 car.
After two consecutive weeks of rainouts the Insigner Performance Modifeds will be back in action and raring to go on Friday night. Jeff Strunk, Ryan Krachun and Craig Von Dohren have all visited victory lane this season at Big Diamond. Louden Reimert currently is the points leader in the modified division by a small margin over Jeff Strunk and Duane Howard.
Parity is the best world to describe the USS Achey Crate Sportsman division as this class shows week in and week out that the competition is second to none. There have been very few drivers who have won multiple features over the two years this division has been racing at Big Diamond and going by the results so far this season, I expect the trend to continue. Matt Yoder is the current points leader over Brendan Edgar and Logan Watt.
The Red White and Blue Autos Roadrunners are also on the card Friday night with their door to door brand or racing. Andrew Fayash III leads the way with two wins and is the current points leader.
Pit gates will open this Friday at 5:00 pm with Grandstand gates opening at 5:30 pm

Warmups get underway at 7:15 PM with racing starting at 7:45 PM.
General admission on Friday night will be $25, Senior admission is $23, Kids under 16 are free. Active military are admitted free with a valid ID.
