Limited Sportsman drivers are putting on an epic throw down for the crown of their own during the 2022 racing season, with the top 10 drivers separated by just 45 points. The top five are separated by just 12 points. Every race matters and a finish can either help a driver climb or fall in the standings. When all said and done, someone will be the first ever KOD Limited champion.
Leading our trio of highlighted drivers this week is Danielle Smith from Five Mile Point Speedway. She is indeed the winningest Limited Sportsman driver, and we apologize for missing that. Five Mile hasn’t had as many races as other tracks YET, but she’s putting in the work and the Bainbridge, NY driver is sure to climb the standings with her Matco Tools – Interstate Homes 7UPjr Teo Pro Car as the season progresses to her best 12 finishes.
Evan Roberts continues his hot streak at Devil’s Bowl Speedway, as the Fletcher, VT driver picked up win number three Saturday at the great crate place. In doing so he gave himself a small, but noticeable bit of breathing room atop the point standings driving his Friend Construction – DuPont Auto & Body number 50X Bicknell chassis.
Our final featured Limited Sportsman driver picked up his first win of the season, which is a huge boost of confidence for anyone. Albany-Saratoga Speedway racer Dan Seguin was able to put together 20 flawless laps and come away victorious Friday night. Every race matters, as that one race catapulted him to 13th in the standings with his Adopt-A-Soldier – CV Waste Removal number 8S Teo Pro Car.
KOD LIMITED SPORTSMAN NOTES: Notes begin by stressing that drivers from Can-Am, Lebanon Valley, and Five Mile Point are still very much alive in the point chase. Their respective tracks have been hampered by mother nature putting them just behind other speedways in terms of races run. There still chasing the goal of 12 best finishes on the season with plenty of racing left.
Mayfield, NY racer Kyle Dingman has been putting up consistent finishes at his home track of Fonda Speedway. Saturday night he once again posted a second-place finish to stretch his point lead at the track along with landing second on the KOD Limited Sportsman standings. Solid season thus far with his Sickler Construction – Early Birds Diner number 1D Bicknell chassis.
Devil’s Bowl Speedway racer Justin Lilly needed a confidence boosting run and he did just that Saturday powering to a second-place finish. For the Castleton, VT driver it was his second top five finish of the season. He’s in a tough weekly field, but plenty of racing left to earn his best 12 finishes with his JTL Auto Sales – Stone Chrysler, Dodge, & Jeep number 44 Teo Pro Car.
One final KOD Limited Sportsman note is about Devil’s Bowl competitor Alex Layn from New Haven, VT. He posted his fourth top 10 finish at the bowl and currently sits 12th on the leaderboard. Every race matters and consistent finishes keep a driver in the title conversation. Keep an eye out for the Driven Sales & Service – New Haven Self Storage number 751 Bicknell.
