Column By: MIKE TRAVERSE / RPW – ACCORD, NY – If seeing some pre-Fourth of July is something that you are craving, then Accord Speedway is the place to be this coming Friday, July 1st.
In addition to a full card of racing, there will be a great fireworks show at some point after dusk.
Anyone who has ever been to an Accord fireworks show knows that it is one of the best fireworks displays in the Hudson Valley. The picturesque speedway at the southern edge of the Catskill Mountains is a great setting for this show.
The fireworks show is sponsored by Dan’s Towing of Kingston and Rosendale, NY.
And if you are attending Accord Speedway for the first time, you will see some fantastic racing on the tight 1/4 track, often referred to as The Bullring.
As the Accord points season approaches the halfway point, there are close point standings throughout the various divisions.
Defending Modified champion Danny Creeden has a slim 4 point lead over Danny Tyler. Jimmy Wells is 3rd with Rich Ricci Jr. 4th and Joe Judge 5th.
Tyler is the only Modified 2 time winner with single victories scored by Creeden, Scott Ferrier and Joe Judge. Mat Williamson won the non-point Battle at the Bullring to open the season.
