Story By: JOHN SNYDER / ORANGE COUNTY FAIR SPEEDWAY – MIDDLETOWN, NY – Following a week off for the organized mayhem and excitement of the annual Spring Smashtacular, weekly racing returns to Orange County Fair Speedway for the remaining two June Saturdays, 18 and 25, both with four divisions of high speed racing on the five-eighths-mile clay track.
The United Rental DIRTcar Big-Block Modifieds will be in action both racing programs. Qualifying heat races will set the fields for each evening’s 30-lap feature race that will see the winner take home $3,000. These races carry points towards the 2022 track championship. The June 25 Big-Block Modified feature is a King of the Catskills Qualifier, with the winner earning a starting position in the Accord Speedway King of the Catskills championship race later in the year.
Three other racing divisions will take part in each evening’s festivities, again with qualifying heat races determining the feature race lineups. On June 18, the H.O. Penn Small-Block Modifieds will complete qualifying setting the starting field for the previously postponed 45-lap Whitey Memmelaar Memorial headline feature with the victor earning $4,500. Then on June 25, the Small-Block Modifieds will race in a 25-lap feature, paying the winner $2,000. On both June 18 and 25, the Arkel Motors Sportsman mains will be 20 laps with the winners earning $1,000. The NAPA Northeast Parts Group Street Stocks will race June 18 in $500 to win 15-lap makeup feature for the race originally scheduled on May 14. Finally, the Precision Hydraulic & Oil Rookie Sportsman return to the Middletown clay on June 25, racing in a 12-lap feature.
