Story By: PHIL ALLAWAY / LEBANON VALLEY SPEEDWAY – WEST LEBANON, NY – Last Saturday was supposed to be a big day at Lebanon Valley Speedway.
The Modifieds were due to race 44 laps for $10,000-to-win in the inaugural Bryan Goewey Memorial.
However, the atmosphere had other plans.
The high-banked clay track was soaked by multiple downpours starting Friday night. Each time, the track crew went to work to get everything back into working order.
However, a thunderstorm that hit the track at 4 p.m. was just too much to overcome, forcing a cancellation of the racing card.
The Bryan Goewey Memorial has been rescheduled for this Saturday, July 9th. It will still be 44 laps with $10,000 on the line for the winner.
Also on the card will be the $1,000-to-win George Marcus Memorial for Sportsman, the 17th annual Bubba Tanner Pro Stock Classic, paying over $1,300-to-win, Street Stocks, Limited Sportsman and Four-Cylinders.
There will also be an Extreme Fireworks display. Ticket booths open at 5 p.m. with general admission just $12. Kids 11 and under just $2.
Pit gates open at 3 p.m.
