Story By: TOBY LAGRANGE / GLEN RIDGE MOTORSPORTS PARK – FULTONVILLE, NY – The Glen Ridge Motorsports Park played host to a full program of action Sunday evening, including the only appearance of the season by the DIRTcar Pro Stock Series.
Cody Ochs picked up his first win of the season in the Red Chair DIRTcar Sportsman division. The win would be Ochs’ fourth of his career at The Ridge.
Mike Fowler finished second with Andrew Buff third, Garret Poland fourth and Justin Buff fifth. The heat races were won by Ricky Quick and Andrew Buff.
A stout field of 20 Yurkewecz Auto Crushers DIRTcar Pro Stock competitors entered the evenings event with drivers coming from Quebec and throughout the State of New York and New England states.
When all was said and done, Bruno Richard made his seven plus hour trek down from Quebec worth it as he picked up the 30-lap feature event win. Track points leader Luke Horning battled Richard early before taking the lead. On lap 26 Horning and the lapped car of Nick Hilt made contact, sending Horning pit side.
Horning would rebound for a sixth-place finish. This moved Kevin Fetterly, Jr. into second on the restart. Richard would lead the final four laps to pick up the win in his first event visit to the track. Fetterly finished second with Vermont’s Scott Towslee third, Justin White fourth and Tyler Bushey fifth.
The eight-lap qualifying events were won by Horning, Richard and Rob Yetman. In group time trials, quick times were set by Andy Graves (15.138), Richard (15.229) and Shawn Perez, Jr. (15.487). The Classic Muscle Parts overall (not just time trials) Fast Time Award went to Luke Horning. Jay Fitzgerald, of Classic Muscle Parts was the overall quickest time but declined the award, awarding it to Horning.
“This means so much, I’m doing a lot of traveling and wanted to do the Series this year,” Richard, the 2020 DIRTcar Pro Stock Rookie of the Year, said proudly. “Now to get a Series win with such a small team. This is special.”
Mike Hill returned to victory lane in the Cherko-Fusco Realty Limited Sportsman division. The win was the fifth of the season for Hill. Butchie Irwin finished second with Nick Arnold third, Wesley Sutliff fourth and Phil Arnold fifth. The heat race was won by Hill.
In full fender action, Adam Tranka held of Dominic Denue for the win in the Street Stock division. In the DIRTcar Mini Stock division, Bruce Liddle picked up the Single Cam win over Jay Ingersoll and Blaze Post while Billy Hillman won the Dual Cam event over Gina Voris and Jerry Lawton.
The Slingshot by Tobias Series was on hand for both the All-Star and Junior divisions. The Northeast Nationals All-Star event was won by Danny Ballard over James Benz and Kolton Weiler while Junior event was won by Connor Crane over Bodie Marks and Lucas Cole.
The Glen Ridge Motorsports Park returns to action this Sunday night, July 17th with another DIRTcar Sunday Night program featuring all weekly divisions. In addition to the weekly program, the DIRTcar 358 Modifieds will make their return to The Ridge with a 35-lap, $2,000 to win (based on 20 entries) event. Pit Gates open at 3PM, Grandstands at 4PM, Hot Laps at 5:30 PM with racing set to start at 6PM.
