Story By: TOBY LAGRANGE / GLEN RIDGE MOTORSPORTS PARK – FULTONVILLE, NY – The Glen Ridge Motorsports Park roared back to life on Sunday evening in celebration of Independence Day Weekend. When the final checkered flag waved and the partying began, one driver and his team were a little more excited.
Justin Buff came into the night’s Red Chair Affair double points show looking for that allusive first DIRTcar Sportsman feature event win of the season at the quarter mile speed plant. When all was said and done, he not only grabbed the checkered flag, but he did so in thrilling fashion.
Garrett Poland, another of the young guns at The Ridge dominated the 30-lap feature event. He took the lead at the drop of the green flag and at one point had a commanding lead. As the laps clicked off and slower traffic came into play, the second and third place battle between Justin and Andrew Buff became a three-way battle for the race lead.
Justin Buff found his way under Poland on the final lap in a last-ditch effort for the win as the leaders entered the final set of turns. Buff emerged as the winner. Older brother Andrew Buff finished second with Poland third, Zach Buff fourth and Ricky Quick fifth. The heat race was won by Justin Buff.
Luke Horning returned to victory lane in the Yurkewecz Auto Crushers DIRTcar Pro Stock division 20-lap feature event. Horning crossed the finish line first ahead of Jay Fitzgerald, Steve Cosselman, Andy Graves and Slater Baker. The heat races were won by Johnny Rivers and Baker.
Butchie Irwin made it four wins in a row for the Cherko-Fusco Realty Limited Sportsman feature event. Irwin dominated the event, bringing home the win over Matthew Backus, Nick Arnold, James Hinman and Mike Hill. With the win Irwin takes sole control of the points lead over Hill. The heat race was won by Hill.
Matt Mosher won the 15-lap Street Stock feature event. Mosher claimed the win over Dan Madigan, Adam Tranka, Joe Wilson and Brian Brown. The heat races were won by Tranka and Dominick Denue.
Jay Ingersoll (Single Cam) and Billy Hillman (Dual Cam) picked up the wins in the DIRTcar Mini Stock division. The Northeast Paving and Sealcoat All-Star Slingshot feature event was won by Adam Fusco while the Junior Slingshot event was claimed by Connor Crane.
