Column By: MIKE TRAVERSE / RPW – MIDDLETOWN, NY – While racing in the second Sportsman heat on Saturday, Joey Bruning and another car made contact.
The end result was Bruning flipping into the wall and suffering injuries that required hospitalization.
But the good news that Joey shared in a Facebook post on Sunday afternoon is that although he is banged up and in some pain, he expects to make a full recovery.
Joey indicated that in addition to a bruised sternum, x-rays and scans showed that he suffered a fracture of a vertebrae in his back. At this writing, he is still hospitalized.
Joey said in the post that he is very grateful to those who have reached out to offer his family help. And he thanked his sponsors, crew and all those who have helped him over the years.
And he also thanked the track crew for helping him out of his car.
You can always count on the ‘Racing Family’ to come through in a time of crisis.
On behalf of the staff at Race Pro Weekly, we wish all the best for Joey and his family as he goes through his recovery period!!
