Story By: JOHN SNYDER / ORANGE COUNTY FAIR SPEEDWAY – MIDDLETOWN, NY – On Saturday, July 30, the final weekend of the 181st Annual Orange County Fair, the always exciting and unpredictable Arkel Motors Sportsman headline the racing program on the five-eights-mile clay-surfaced Orange County Fair Speedway.
And fans can watch the races from the stands free with Fair admission. For the Sportsman speedsters, there’s not one, but two 20-lap feature races. Qualifying events will set the field for the first 20-lap feature, with alternates—if necessary—added for the second 20-lap main.
Also included in the program, both the NAPA Northeast Parts Group Street Stocks and the Precision Hydraulic & Oil Rookie Sportsman are set to thrill fairgoers as they roar around the speedway in their races.
To wrap up the night’s action, there’s One-on-One Spectator races, the chance for brave car owners to test their machines in an elimination format.
Tru By Hilton, the Official Hotel of Orange County Fair Speedway, is the evening’s sponsor.
Free admission to the stands with Fair ticket, Drive-In is $15. The stands and Drive-In gates open at 5:00 pm. Racing begins at 7:00 pm.
During the fair, parking will be off Carpenter Avenue and entrance to the grounds will be opposite the parking area.
All Pit passes are $25. Pit gate opens at 3:30pm. Competitors will use the normal pit entrance, but are reminded to be alert for spectators entering the grounds.
