Story By: JOHN SNYDER / ORANGE COUNTY FAIR SPEEDWAY – MIDDLETOWN, NY – On Thursday, July 28, Orange County Fair Speedway’s weekly United Rentals DIRTcar Big-Block Modified competitors will take on the traveling race teams of the Super DIRTcar Modified Series in an epic “Battle of the Midway,” 73-lap feature race with $10,000 going to the victor and a guaranteed starting position in the October Super DIRT Week 200 at Oswego (New York) Speedway.
This special evening of racing is also Ferraiuolo Family Tribute Night, recognizing the decades of participation and support as Big-Block Modified team owners at Orange County Fair Speedway (OCFS) and other racing venues across the region. Over the years, many of the Northeast’s greatest racing stars have won in the Farraiuolo’s famous No. 73 Modifieds.
This race meet will under the Super DIRTcar Series rules and format that include group time trials, qualifying races, and the 73-lap main event.
In addition, the OCFS Arkel Motors Sportsman, including the Precision Hydraulic & Oil Rookie Sportsman, and any other Sportsman cars that meet Orange County rules will go to the post in a $1,250 to win 20-lap feature race.
Timed hot laps and qualifying heat races will set the field which will start heads-up.
Precision Hydraulic & Oil, Keizer Wheels, and Behrent’s Performance Warehouse are providing additional awards for this event.
Reserved seating for the July 28 race meet is $40. General admission either for the stands or the Drive-In is $35 adult, $30 seniors and military, and free for children 12 and under.
For July 28 only, Fair admission is free with advanced purchase of Battle of the Midway tickets. Call the Speedway Office for advanced ticket sales and Party Deck reservations.
The stands and Drive-In gates open at 5:00 pm. Racing begins at 7:00 pm.
During the fair, parking will be off Carpenter Avenue and entrance to the grounds will be opposite the parking area.
Pit passes are $40 for members, $45 non-members. Pit gate opens at 3:30pm. Competitors will use the normal pit entrance, but are reminded to be alert for spectators entering the grounds.
