
Story By: KING OF DIRT – FAIR HAVEN, VT – For six weeks Devil’s Bowl Limited Sportsman hot shoe Evan Roberts sat atop the standings, until Fonda Speedway racer Zach Dufel earned his third win moving him to the top by a mere three points.
Danielle Smith, Chris Crane Jr., and Paul DeRuyter also claimed victory at their respective home tracks.
Elmo’s Speed Supply King Of Dirt Racing Limited Sportsman points are intense. Drivers are starting to realize every race matters, as they roll along to their best 12 finishes. Some tracks haven’t had as many races run as others, however there is plenty of racing left for those competitors to reach their best 12 as well. It’s going to get wild from here on out.
Fonda Speedway Limited Sportsman title contender and crown hopeful Zach Dufel has gotten quite a bit of press this season, because he earned it. This past weekend he posted his third win of the year at the track of champions, which landed him atop the leaderboard. The Amsterdam, NY driver parked the Shaffer Racing Bicknell Chassis for another team win.
Canaan, CT racer Chris Crane Jr. has quietly been making noise at Albany-Saratoga Speedway on Friday nights. Early this season he earned headlines winning, and once again he was in victory lane. It’s his second win of the season to go along with consistent finishes driving his Crane’s Outdoor Power Equipment – Greenacres Landscaping number 711 Bicknell Racing Chassis.
Our third and final highlighted Limited Sportsman driver this week is lady racer Danielle Smith from Five Mile Point. Her name has been said frequently also, because she has six feature wins to her credit this season. She’s dominating the field in Kirkwood, NY and will be a contender by seasons end driving her Matco Tools – Interstate Homes number 7UPjr Teo Pro Car.
KOD LIMITED SPORTSMAN NOTES: By August 1st the KOD leaderboards will be open to a drivers 12 best finishes. Some competitors are at that point already, while others are just waiting for more races run at their home track. On September 1st KOD will issue home track starting field size bonus points, so all drivers know their totals real time heading into fall racing.
Final note, Can-Am Speedway competitor Paul DeRuyter picked up his second win of the season Friday night. The Inlet, NY racer has had a whale of a battle each week with the Keegan boys for division supremacy, but got the victory this week driving his Buzz Chew Chevrolet – Enchanted Forest Water Safari number 1D Bicknell Racing Chassis.
