Column By: MARTY CZEKALA / RPW – RANSOMVILLE, NY – While Wednesday night’s Super DIRTcar Series Summer Nationals was pushed back a day due to rain, Matt Sheppard and Stewart Friesen wrote another chapter to their battle of hard racing.
In the first heat race of the evening at Ransomville, Friesen and Sheppard started 1-2. They were side by side for up until lap six of eight when Friesen made the clear on Sheppard into turn one off the low side.
Sheppard had one last chance in turn 3 at the white flag when Friesen took the outside but had the power off the corner to hold off Sheppard.
The redraw had Friesen and Sheppard starting 5th and 6th in the feature.
Heat winners outside Friesen tonight were Erick Rudolph, Mat Williamson, and Chad Brachmann, all Ransomville regulars.
The feature was a lap from going green before the skies opened up and lightning struck the area.
Williamson and Peter Britten will bring the field to green tomorrow night at 8pm with hot laps at 7:30pm. The tickets and wristbands used are suitable for tomorrow.
