Big Weekend For Quebec-Ontario Challenge At RPM Speedway & Autodrome Drummond

Story By: MARTIN BÉLANGER / QUEBEC-ONTARIO CHALLENGE – CORNWALL, ONT – The Quebec/Ontario Challenge is back this weekend at RPM Speedway on Friday and Autodrome Drummond on Saturday as both the Restaurant Le Grinder 358-Modified and the Lussier Chevrolet/DRIVR Académie Sportsman, will both be in action.
RPM speedway will host the third round of both series on Friday, September 9th as the 358-Modifieds will have a 100-lap event paying $4,000 as the Sportsman will have 50 laps paying $1,000 to win. Both series will share the spotlight on Saturday during Race Mania 18 as the same feature length will be presented but the 358-Modified winner will get $5,000 on Saturday.
After 2 rounds, two different scenarios are currently shaping up as the 358-Modified portion is dominated by Quebec drivers while it is 3 competitors from Ontario composing the front 3. An interesting battle for the lead in building up in the Modifieds at David Hebert only have 7 points over Steve Bernier and 18 over Corey Wheeler in third. Yan Bussiere and Gage Morin are currently completing the top 5.
Gabriel Cyr will be looking in getting a third win in a row having won the first 2 events so far as he has 24 points over Shane Pecore and 44 points on Ryan Stabler. Gorden Clair and Donovan Lussier are looking to get closer to the Ontario drivers as they are completing the top 5.
The points fund for the series will be $5,000 in the Modifieds as the champion will get $2,500, second will have $1,500 and this $1,000. The Sportsman, top 3 finishers will receive money for the points fund with the champion receiving $1,500, second $1,000 and third $500.
