Story By: TOBY LAGRANGE / GLEN RIDGE MOTORSPORTS PARK – FULTONVILLE, NY – When the green flag drops at the Glen Ridge Motorsports Park in the Spring, the weekly card will look a bit different. The DIRTcar 358 Modified division will join the weekly card of racing in 2023.
The Ridge played host to the one and only visit by the DIRTcar 358 Modifieds in 2022 on July 17th. This was the first time that the Modifieds have been on the card at The Ridge since September of 2019.
Lance Willix made the near three-hour tow to The Ridge pay off as the Theresa, New York driver left with the lion’s share of the winner’s purse. The win did not come easy and came in dramatic fashion.
Former Junior Slingshot Track Champion and 14-time overall winner at the track, Brock Pinkerous moved out front early on in the DIRTcar 358 Modified 30-lap feature event. Pinkerous looked strong on the lead and at one point held a commanding lead over Albany-Saratoga Speedway invader James Meehan.
Willix though got better as the laps clicked off. He would make his way past Meehan late in the event and set his sights on a distant Pinkerous. With two laps to go Willix was all over Pinkerous for the lead and coming out of turn four on the final lap, Willix made the pass for the win. The margin of victory was .061 second.
Pinkerous settled for second with Meehan third, Bill August fourth and Ray Hall, Jr. fifth.
Stay tuned for more details on the return of the DIRTcar 358 Modifieds to the weekly program at The Ridge in 2023. Those details will be released soon.
